Copyright Law Overview

Copyrights are governed by the Civil Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Law on “Copyright and Neighboring Rights” dated 20 July 2006, in force from July 21 2006, as well as Bern Convention on protection of literature and art works (19 April 2005).

Accordingly, copyright applies to works of authors or other initial copyright owners – citizens of Uzbekistan or persons permanently residing on the territory of Uzbekistan; works, first published in Uzbekistan despite citizenship and permanent residence of the authors; works protected in Uzbekistan in accordance with international agreements.
