Advance payments under import contracts

Under present laws, there are no limits on maximum advance payment under the contracts of import. Instead, the government passed Regulations “On the monitoring over the validity (efficiency) of currency operations by the legal and physical entities”[1] (Regulations) that are aimed to establish a monitoring mechanism.

Following the decisions taken at the governmental level for the purposes of liberalization of foreign economic activity, the requirement of maximum of 15% advance payment was, among others, abolished, since July 16, 2003 when currency control measures in Uzbekistan became a bit less stringent as it used to be prior to that date.
