Monopolistic Control

Major piece of legislation on competition is the Law of Uzbekistan “On competition and restriction of monopolistic behavior in the commodities markets” dated 27.12.1996. Under art.6 of this Law, the following agreements are prohibited and in due order shall be null and void:

Agreements between competing parties or potential competitors that jointly hold 35% or more percent in the relevant market that effect or may effect restriction of competition, including agreed practices aimed to:

- fix and maintain prices, tariffs, discounts, extra charges, markups and surcharges;
