It should be noted that Uzbek legislation in the area of intellectual property (the “IP”) is in its embryonic state and contains only general provisions rather than specifics. Nevertheless, major IP laws have been adopted and being amended and developed in order to meet international IP standards.
Intellectual property is regulated by the Civil Code and specific IP related laws, namely: the Law on Copyright and Related Rights No.ZRU-42 as of July 20, 2006, the Law on Inventions, Utility Models and Industrial Designs No.1062-XII as of May 6, 1994, the Law on Trademarks, Service Marks and Appellation of Origin No.267-II as of August 30, 2001;
